How we research and rank software

Who we are

Shopfloor Index is published by MetaProject, a product engineering consultancy founded in 2016 that builds and integrates software for companies in the US, EU and UK. We are engineers, not plant managers. We have spent a decade evaluating vendors, reading integration docs, and living with the consequences of software choices — that is the lens we bring. We do not claim shop-floor experience we don't have, and where hands-on operator feedback matters we quote practitioners and cite them.

What we verify

Every vendor profile and comparison page is checked against the vendor's own website and pricing page, independent review platforms (G2, Capterra, Software Advice, Gartner Peer Insights), regulatory sources (FDA, Federal Register, EU regulations) and company announcements. Prices marked "verified" appear on a vendor page or vendor-maintained listing; third-party estimates are labeled as estimates. Where we cannot confirm a fact, the page says "unknown" rather than guessing.

How we rank

We don't rank on star ratings. Review counts reflect how a product is sold (self-serve tools accumulate hundreds; enterprise and metrology tools sell through channels and have a handful), not how good it is. Comparison pages are organized by fit — company size, sub-industry, deployment, integrations, compliance — and our "quick answer" recommendations are editorial judgments we explain in the text.

Sponsorship

Vendors can pay for a labeled Featured placement on comparison pages. Featured listings are marked "Sponsored", carry a rel="sponsored" link, and do not change the editorial text, the comparison table, or what we say about the vendor's weaknesses. Vendors cannot pay to be removed, to have complaints removed, or to change their ranking in the editorial list.

Claimed profiles

Vendors may claim their profile to correct facts, add pricing, and receive lead inquiries: write to vendors@shopfloorindex.com. Corrections are applied when they are verifiable; opinions and review-cited weaknesses stay.

Updates and corrections

Each page shows its last-verified date. We re-verify pricing and ownership at least twice a year and after any acquisition we learn of. To report an error, write to editor@shopfloorindex.com; we correct within five business days and note material corrections on the page.
