Decide whether you need shop-floor guidance or regulated document control first
These fifteen listings split into two groups that get conflated constantly. One group (Tulip, VKS, Poka, Azumuta, Augmentir, Operations1, L2L, Parsable, Andonix, Pico MES, Manual.to, Mitti) is built around guiding an operator through a task on a screen or tablet. The other (MasterControl, Veeva Vault QMS, and to a degree Dozuki with its FDA/ITAR controls) is built around controlling and versioning the SOP document itself, with e-signatures and audit trails. If your problem is "operators skip steps or do them wrong," you want the first group. If your problem is "an auditor asked us to prove which SOP version was live on March 3rd," you want the second. Buying the wrong category means paying for connected-worker features you don't need, or missing Part 11 signatures you do.
Decide what you can afford to find out later
Only Tulip, Mitti and MasterControl publish a number here. Tulip starts at $100/interface/mo with a 10-unit minimum. Mitti has a free plan and a paid tier from $24/seat/mo. MasterControl starts at roughly $25,000/yr. Everyone else, including VKS, Poka, Augmentir and Veeva, is quote-only, which is normal for enterprise connected-worker software but means you can't shortlist on price alone for twelve of these fifteen. Budget for a sales cycle, not a checkout page.
TODO(editor): verify current pricing and minimums for Tulip, Mitti and MasterControl directly with the vendors before publishing any number on this page.
Decide who administers this day to day
A no-code platform like Tulip is meant to be built and edited by process engineers, not IT. A regulated eQMS like MasterControl or Veeva Vault QMS typically needs a document control owner and, for validation, involvement from quality assurance. If your plant has no dedicated document control function, a heavier eQMS becomes a part-time job for whoever inherits it.
TODO(editor): confirm which of these vendors ship a no-code/citizen-developer authoring mode versus requiring vendor or IT-led configuration.
Decide what it has to talk to
Work instructions rarely live in isolation. They need to sit next to job routing, downtime capture or maintenance data (L2L pairs SwipeGuide instructions with production and maintenance data, per its listing) or next to training records and skills matrices (Poka, Azumuta, Mitti all list skills or training features). If your ERP, MES or CMM already owns the routing data, ask each vendor to name a specific integration, not a general
